Biography:
Dr. Roger A. Clemens has been part-time faculty within the Department of Regulatory and Quality Sciences at USC Mann since 2001. He is also a faculty member in the Global Medicine program within the Keck School of Medicine. He served as Scientific Advisor for Nestlé USA for more than 21 years, food science and nutrition department chairman at California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, and then Chief Scientific Officer for Horn for about a decade. He is also co-founder and executive vice president of scientific operations for PolyScience Consulting.
Dr. Clemens is a past president of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) and a past president of the International Academy of Food Science and Technology. He is an elected Fellow in the American Society for Nutrition, American College of Nutrition, Institute of Food Technologists, and International Academy of Food Science and Technology.
Dr. Clemens has published more than 80 original manuscripts in nutrition, food science, and toxicology, participated in more than 300 invited domestic and international lectures, and served as an expert panel member for the food industry, scientific organizations, trade associations, and regulatory agencies in the United States, Canada, and Europe. For 14 years, he published a food, medicine, and health column in Food Technology, that had a global distribution of more than 33,000. He has been cited and interviewed by more than 500 domestic and international health journalists and has appeared in numerous televised discussions on contemporary health, nutrition, and food safety issues.
