Every nutritional requirement is within a safe or desirable range. There is a danger of harmful health impacts if you exceed these safe or ideal levels. Excessive intake of most nutrients can result in negative health effects or chronic toxicity. If consumed in large quantities, any nutrient, even water, can be fatal. Overconsumption of calorie-producing nutrients (carbohydrate, fat, and protein), as well as alcohol, raises the risk of obesity and certain chronic diseases, whereas isolated amino acids can cause imbalances and toxicities.
